Spencers get planning for digester on site by river Hull

Fit payment reduction slows down Spencers project.

East riding council still not decided on how to deal with waste (incinerator may still be on the cards).

7th Dec 2011

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NO INCINERATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both Councils abandon contract with WRG to build an incinerator

We will have to wait to see what comes next

Both councils have to come up with new contracts,

The proposed digester by the river side looks to be what is needed but is dependant on EU funding, this will only be given if contracts exist (chicken & egg situation).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

New Government to push ANAEROBIC digestion instead of incineration.

LETS HOPE THIS IS AN END TO INCINERATION AT SALTEND

WRG team up with Lanark council to build MBT unit.

Essex council receive funding for MBT unit. Look it up on www.letsrecycle.com

WRG team up with Cemex to build MBT unit in UK.

Look up letsrecycle.com on google, go to news, look up Cemex & WRG latest release (10/09/2009).

We need this type of unit, not an incinerator.

COUNCILS FAIL TO GET FUNDING TO BUILD INCINERATOR.

This means that WRG will now fund the project privately, this may lead to a more commercially based unit.

We want newer methods of waste disposal. NOT INCINERATION, WRG are owened by the Spanish company FCC, please look at the following site to see how the Spanish are managing waste, WE need to be looking at similar projects, INCINERATION IS OLD NEWS>

First log on to www.fcc.es Press translate to English (top right)

Then click on services, cross to environmental and enter.

Highlight fcc to mange waste for 97 towns in Valencia region for 20 years, press enter to read article.(In right hand side column, @ half way down).

Our Councils should be looking at this type of plant (Biomethanisation not outdated Incineration).

The recent public meeting went well with MP Graham Stuart addressing the meeting. Funds are needed to help pay for the impending court case. If we win then, no costs, if we loose estimate between £10,000 and £15,000, court action has started so we need to be able to cover the costs if needed. PLEASE HELP.

We now have control of this web site and will try to keep it up to date. Last update 7 JULY 2011

The situation at present.

WRG have full planning permission and an operating permit to build an INCINERATOR. Hull & East riding councils are ignoring new methods of waste disposal. Other UK councils are moving to new methods. WRG's Spanish parent company are building new technology plants in Spain (we should be doing the same).

The size of the plant is a concern 240,000 tonnes per annum is far to great for this area, giving rise to concerns that waste will be imported to keep it going.

HOTI actions,

We believe that the contract that the councils have with WRG may not valid, we are challenging the contract via the EU commission.

We believe that the operating permit issued by the Environment Agency has a number of anomalies, the issues are being challenged in the high court with the help of friends of the earth.

WE NEED FUNDS to continue the fight, it's 5 years since the councils decided on incineration, the world has changed in that time, we need a new environmentally friendly way to deal with our waste. HELP us by donating money at the various fund raising events planned over the next few months, or buy a HOTI BOND.

HOTI BOND.
